The Rake Tapas down the road, dates from the 16th century. It takes 10 minutes if you cut across down the fields but you may need your wellies if it is wet. Al fresco dining in the summer months on the terrace, the pizza oven is lit at weekends and Bank Holidays providing the weather is good.

The Moorcock on the A58 is a traditional pub/restaurant that serves good home cooked food. The walk to it cuts through Lydgate clough and takes around 20-30 mins.

The White House at the top of Blackstone Edge on the Pennine Way, is a former coaching house, now a popular pub/restaurant. This is a much longer walk but you can catch the bus either way.528bustimetable
